The space between memory and fantasy is the source I draw upon to inspire my landscapes. As time passes the clarity of memories begins to skew. The details of the scene or moment become embellished or faded. At some point in time, the memory becomes more legendary than historical. This reflective nostalgia of moments and places do not care about the truth, but rather a romance with one’s own remembrance. I find a deeper connection with the mental imagery than an interest to explore replicating the surface textures of reality.
I make art and teach how to make art too. Exploration with many different hobbies have come and gone over the years. But, I still make art.
