I am constantly investigating the fabric of my own individuality and my experience within the world. It becomes clear that the influences of genealogy have shaped my interiority of identity. My work challenges the Eurocentric tradition of portraiture and those held in high regard by questioning the boundaries of identity.

Kevin Hetzel is an artist whose work attempts to restructure the Eurocentric tradition of portraiture and those held in high regard. Through the investigation of cultural influences and genealogy the interiority of an identity emerges. Through laborious brushstrokes and tedious mark making he connects with working class traditions of production.
