My art is inspired by rowing, as I spend most of my time outside of the classroom on thewater. Although painting and rowing are approached with different intensities, they both serve asa daily outlet for expression. There is a meditative quality to synchronizing with 7 other girls in aboat that mirrors the zone I get into when painting. And coincidentally, they both consist ofendless, careful strokes. My medium of choice is acrylic paint because it's fast drying natureallows me to layer and color block with loose strokes that bring a moment to life. I enjoycapturing the movement of the water and the candid unfiltered emotion of an athlete before, during and after a race.

I am a senior studying Marketing, Studio Art and Film at Lehigh University. I grew up on Long Island with a passion for the arts fostered by my mother who is a high school art teacher. In addition to my love of painting, I have always been a competitor with a drive to succeed athletically. Upon my first week of college I walked-on to the Varsity Women’s Rowing team that I now serve as the captain of. I had no experience rowing, but what I truly missed from high school was the camaraderie of a team, and rowing filled that gap. My love of rowing and art now intersects, as my teammates tend to be the subject of my paintings.
