Color, shape, and pattern are all key elements in my work that help to inform my processes and express my inner child. My work focuses on basic shapes and bright colors as a means of reconnecting with my former childlike self. I am exploring my relationship to childhood and what I would refer to as a more playful time period through the use of painting along with shape, color, texture, and pattern. The innocence, playfulness, and warmth that relates to childhood excites me. Working in this manner feels very natural, similarly to that of a child playing with their toys. The expressive play a child experiences along with their ability to be carefree is a major influence as to how I decide to make my work. I enjoy when my work has movement and fluidity allowing me to be aware of a more youthful self that still lives inside me. Exploring my inner child affords me the opportunity to be more in tune with my creativity ultimately leading to the creation of vivid, abstract pieces.
